You say you want a resolution!




We made it through the first week of the new year! #NewYearNewMe How many of you are still powering through those resolutions...? #Aintnobodygottimeforthat

I'm not much of a New Year's Resolution gal myself, but hey, to each their own! Turns out, I'm not alone and neither are you.



Only 8 percent?! But why...?

Come to find out many people who decide to claim a resolution fail to keep it going because they are not explicit enough, are unrealistic in their goal setting, and run out of motivation. Being explicit and realistic are easy enough (if we're honest with ourselves) but how can we tackle motivation?



EASY! the "experts" say to start by choosing something you like to do. Now who'd have thunk it?! If your goal or resolution is to get fit and/or lose weight, try doing something you enjoy and you are more likely to stick with it.


"There's a reason why approximately 60% of the gym memberships people start in January never get used— they're started by people with good intentions but who don't really enjoy making gym visits a part of their life.

Experts recommend finding an activity that you like enough to do regularly." (Business Insider Dec. 12, 2018)


Moral of the story: Find something you like doing that will help you achieve your goal and you will be motivated to continue and will in turn be successful!


I'm choosing to focus on exercise in this post because:

1.) I am a dance instructor

2.) See chart below



Dance can help you cover numbers 2, 3, 5, and 10! Maybe even 6 and 9... According to the non scientific publication (who am I to judge) Business Insider, " Exercise provides such a laundry list of physical and mental health benefits that it's basically the closest thing we have to a wonder drug."
